Mohs Histotechnologist / Histology Technician Full-Time | Day Shift Join a specialized dermatology team supporting Mohs surgery, where precision and efficiency directly impact patient care. This role is ideal for someone with strong histology experience who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented lab environment. Position Summary Processes tissue samples in a Mohs surgery unit for histological diagnosis. Responsibilities include grossing, embedding, microtomy, special stains, and immunohistochemistry slide processing. Also responsible for laboratory equipment maintenance, including preventative, routine, and troubleshooting tasks. Key Responsibilities Perform histological procedures across Mohs Histology locations within Dermatology Receive, log, embed, section, and stain tissue samples for physician review Examine tissue sections under a microscope to ensure quality and accuracy Prepare slides, including H&E staining and coverslipping, for analysis Review slides to confirm completeness and quality (no missing epidermis, deep fat, or staining artifacts) Train new technicians on frozen sectioning and cryostat safety procedures Maintain lab equipment, including cryostats and microscopes; ensure routine servicing Monitor inventory, order supplies, and maintain lab readiness Support quality assurance processes, including peer review and documentation compliance Ensure accuracy of patient data across all logs and systems Assist leadership with lab oversight, audits, and onboarding of new staff Maintain laboratory licensure and support NYS audit readiness Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Education & Experience Associate's degree required Previous experience as a Histology Technician preferred Or equivalent combination of education and experience Licenses & Certifications (Required Upon Hire) HT
  • Histotechnologist (ASCP) certification, or HTL
  • Histotechnologist certification, or MLT
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) with NYS licensure, or MT
