Job Description

In this role you will be:
  • Receive, accession, and log tissue specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare tissue samples by fixation, processing, embedding, cutting, and staining (H&E and special stains).
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, and autostainers.
  • Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains as needed for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensure all specimens are accurately labeled and meet quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimens, tests, and quality control procedures.
  • Follow established safety and infection control procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with frozen sections and intraoperative consultations, if required.
  • Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies; prepare solutions and stains as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with at least 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry
EXPERIENCE
N/A
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
HTL or HT (ASCP) certified or eligible, or obtained within 2 years of hire ▪ Those certified after January 1, 2004 must renew their certification every 3 years by participating in the ASCP Certification Maintenance Program 1 year training in a histology technician/technologist program accredited by NAACLS CLIA and CAP requirements for gross dissection as high complexity testing must be met
