Join a Thriving, Physician-Led GI Practice Are you a Histology Technician looking for a rewarding opportunity in a growing, privately owned gastroenterology practice—not hospital-owned—where your precision and technical expertise are truly valued? Our large, well-established GI practice operates multiple clinical offices, state-of-the-art endoscopy centers, and an in-house pathology lab throughout the Upstate, all dedicated to delivering the highest quality patient care. We offer a regular schedule ending at 5 pm Monday-Thursday and half days on Fridays, giving you more time each week to maintain a strong work-life balance. This role is ideal for a Histology Technician who is experienced in a pathology or laboratory setting, demonstrates strong attention to detail in specimen preparation and processing, and works effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, supportive team. April 28, 2026 Job Summary The Histology Technician is responsible for the accurate preparation, processing, and staining of gastrointestinal tissue specimens obtained during endoscopic procedures. This role supports timely diagnosis by ensuring high-quality histological slides, and maintaining strict compliance with laboratory safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following: Receive, accession, and verify GI biopsy specimens. Perform tissue fixation, grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and mounting specimens. Prepare routine and special stains as required. Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all specimens throughout workflow. Maintain quality control for reagents, stains, and equipment. Follow CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations. Identify and troubleshoot staining or processing issues. Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing, and quality improvement initiatives. Operate and maintain histology equipment. Perform routine maintenance and document equipment logs. Manage laboratory supplies and notify leadership of inventory needs. Communicate specimen concerns, discrepancies, or delays promptly. Support efficient specimen turnaround times. Perform annual safety training and maintain up to date certifications. Package and record slides that are shipped out to Pathologist. Ensure proper waste disposal of laboratory chemicals. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity. Excellent organizational and documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office, gGastro, and laboratory information systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Education and/or Experience Associate or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred. Certification as a Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) preferred. Minimum of two years related experience preferred. Knowledge of histology techniques specific to gastrointestinal specimens required. Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements required. Manual dexterity is required. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed. Ability to access and navigate through the lab and endoscopy center. We are currently hiring both full-time and part-time employees. The part-time schedule is Monday through Thursday, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with additional hours available as needed.Pay:
