Today Pariser Dermatology Specialists has seven locations across Hampton Roads and is one of the largest independent dermatology practices in the country. Are you looking to start a new career as a Histotech? We are willing and able to train the right candidate. We currently have an open position for a Mohs Histotechnician in our Mohs Lab for our Chesapeake office. Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with a specialized dermatological surgery team performing high-quality histology laboratory procedures. Histology - Accession specimens as they enter the lab, label slides with patient identifiers, gross specimens, embed tissue into frozen medium, cut frozen sections using a cryostat, stain frozen sections, and coverslip slides. Perform required quality control and quality assurance procedures for compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Caree for, maintain, and document required maintenance on laboratory equipment, instruments, and accessories in accordance with CLIA regulations. Clean, stock and inventory the laboratory area; order supplies and equipment as needed. Perform daily laboratory setup and closing procedures including cleaning the cryostat and stainer. Update laboratory protocols and manuals as policies change. Assist with sterilization of surgical instruments using the autoclave and aseptic technique. Perform other duties as assigned by the Surgeon and Surgical Supervisor. Job Requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask. Able to remain professional in high-pressure situations. Strong problem-solving skills. Education and Certification Bachelor's degree in a science field is required . Must be qualified to work in a high-complexity lab. Prior experience in a medical laboratory is not required; on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate.
