Evaluates, assesses and adapts procedures to handle problems in frozen section technique to ensure timely and consistent preparations suitable for rapid diagnosis or immunofluorescence procedures. Assists with FNA, bone marrow specimen collection and slide preparation. Evaluates, correlates, and ensures accuracy/validity of laboratory information. Tests and validates tissue to be used as positive control for special procedures. Determines the correct mold size for the specimen being embedded while accurately identifying/orienting the specimen. Develops user friendly instructional material/guidelines to train existing and new personnel. Implements budgetary measures and cost effectiveness in laboratory operations. Participates in the introduction, investigation and implementation of new procedures and the evaluation of new instruments to improve laboratory efficiency. Processes specimens in appropriate fixatives or decalcification agents such as molecular biology procedures according to established procedures. May perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Education :
AS or BS degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with 24 science credits that include a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry (in any combination).Experience:
4 years with combined bench and/or 1 year of histology lead/management experience.Certification:
Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) or Histotechnician (HT) upon startSimilar remote jobs
