Histotechnologist Lead Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for evaluating and solving problems related to the collection and processing of surgical specimens for analysis. Processes, prepares, and stains Cytology specimens to enable the pathologist to render a diagnosis. Develops, tests, implements, evaluates, and selects new techniques, procedures, instruments and methods in terms of their usefulness and practicality as they relate to the laboratory's personnel, equipment, space and budgetary resources. Performs quality control and identifying quality improvement initiatives to ensure optimum laboratory operation. Utilizes a microtome to section paraffin blocks and consistently produce high quality slides for routine, special staining and immunohistochemically induced procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
Years of Experience:
4 years with combined bench, lead and management experience. 1 year of management experience
Certifications:
Histotechnician (HT), Or Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) certification
