This energetic and compassionate position involves providing personalized care, assisting with daily activities, and fostering a supportive environment that promotes dignity and respect. As a DSP, you will be the primary caregiver and advocate, ensuring safety, well-being, and engagement for those you serve. Your efforts will directly enhance the quality of life for residents in various care settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based programs. Responsibilities Deliver hands-on support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's personal assistive devices. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals. Assist with medication administration following HIPAA guidelines to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with care plans and dietary restrictions while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. Support residents during recreational activities, social outings, and community integration efforts to promote independence and social engagement. Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, incident reports, and progress notes to ensure continuity of care. Follow safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies or accidents. Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer's care is advantageous. Experience with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism helps foster understanding and effective support strategies. Familiarity with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care planning is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts is required. Previous roles involving home health services or hospice care provide valuable insight into compassionate caregiving practices.
