This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and respect. The DSP will work closely with clients in their home and community settings, ensuring they receive the necessary care and support tailored to their unique needs. Responsibilities Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing. Provide home community care by helping clients navigate their environments and engage in community activities. Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary guidelines and individual preferences. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients. Observe and document patient behavior, health status, and any changes in condition. Implement individualized support plans that promote client independence and well-being. Assist clients with mobility, including lifting or transferring as needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality. Provide first aid as necessary and respond to emergencies following established protocols. Foster positive relationships with clients while encouraging social interactions. Requirements Previous experience in direct support or home care is preferred but not required. Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in client behavior or health status. Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergencies. Ability to lift clients safely and assist with mobility challenges. Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members. Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and schedules.
