How you'll contribute: A Patient Care Assistant who excels in this role: Performs a wide variety of clerical and clinical duties including, but not limited to:- Answering phones, receiving and giving information, retrieving medical records for scheduled consults.
- Processes referrals and schedules patient visits.
- Register patients in EMR.
- Create new recurring accounts at the first of each month.
- Conduct patient or guarantor interviews, explain hospital policies, financial responsibilities and patient rights.
- Obtains all appropriate signatures for necessary paperwork.
- Obtains pre-certification and verification of insurance benefits on radiation therapy patients.
- Follows up on insurance and or medical record information.
- Monitors patient flow. A
- Assist patient's into exam rooms and document patient vitals.
- Collaborates with other health care professionals to assist as needed when delivering direct patient care in accordance with the standards and expectations of the institution.
- Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an APRN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
- Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
- Keeps exam rooms clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
- Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughout.
- Documents care and activities per unit standards.
- Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Near/far vision and depth perception frequent/constant; color distinction frequent.Environmental Exposures:
