In this vital role, you will foster independence, promote well-being, and ensure safety in a variety of settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based environments. Your dedication will help enhance the quality of life for residents by delivering personalized care with patience, respect, and enthusiasm. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while developing valuable skills in caregiving and health support. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote proper nutrition Support residents in engaging with community activities, social events, and recreational programs to foster social inclusion Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks, laundry assistance, and adherence to infection control protocols Document care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, medication logs, and incident reports Provide emotional support and companionship to residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or other developmental disabilities Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices safely during transfers or mobility assistance Follow all safety procedures including CPR/First Aid certification requirements to respond effectively in emergencies Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care settings preferred Demonstrated ability to work with people with disabilities or special needs such as autism or dementia care Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring essential for ensuring resident safety Experience in medication administration and following care plans accurately is highly valued Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality of resident information Previous caregiving experience involving heavy lifting or the use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts is advantageous Strong communication skills combined with patience and empathy are critical for success in this role Join us as a Direct Support Professional and become a vital part of a dedicated team committed to enriching lives through compassionate care.
