Job Description

Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence and ensuring their daily needs are met in a compassionate and respectful manner. The DSP will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes and community-based environments, to implement care plans and facilitate meaningful activities. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management. Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their independence through tailored care plans. Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote emotional well-being. Monitor client health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate staff or family members. Collaborate with nursing staff and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care is provided. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations. Participate in training sessions related to CPR, first aid, and other relevant skills necessary for effective support. Experience Previous ARF, group home, or home health setting is preferred but not required. Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow detailed instructions is essential. Skills in meal preparation and assisting individuals with daily tasks are highly valued. A compassionate demeanor and strong communication skills are critical for building rapport with clients. Certification in CPR or willingness to obtain certification is a plus. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about providing care and support to those in need while fostering an inclusive environment that encourages growth and independence.
