Job Description

Direct Support Professional Greater Southeast Apartment Training client's Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge of and experience with developmental disabilities Written and oral communication skills, i.e., able to write documentation, incident reports, and medical reports, be pleasant and respectful with others at all times, and be able to share information professionally. This includes the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals, ranging from professionals and family members to individuals with significant disabilities. Ability to assess and prioritize clients' needs Knowledge and ability to use principles of reinforcement Knowledge and ability to use concepts of normalization, circles of support, and inclusion in the community. Ability to function as an equal and contributing member of a team. Ability to always conduct oneself in a professional manner Ability to learn and incorporate new ideas and concepts into practice Positive and reinforcing attitude. Able to keep self-motivated under pressure, remain pleasant, and demonstrate sound judgement Sound judgement and problem-solving skills Provide instruction in independent living skills, including, but not limited to, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and meal planning, nutrition, health and safety in the home and the community, budgeting and banking, mobility training, problem solving, socialization, community integration, laundry, and clothing care. Support Provide support in areas listed above, as well as other not listed Emergency Intervention Respond to and evaluate emergencies and crisis situations Be available for intervention Documentation Documentation, per GSAT policy, includes support, instruction, and intervention offered to clients Communication Communicate verbally and in written words the needs and progress of clients Participating in team planning of consumer goals Participating in in-service training Participate in staff/consumer activities Other Individual tasks determined by individual client's needs Job Qualifications Be in good general health Be clear of tuberculosis Have a current California Driver's License Have or be able to obtain fingerprint clearance Have a current CPR and community First Aid card or "be willing to obtain one." Be a High School graduate Having familiarity of needs of adults with intellectual disability Be accepting of concepts of normalization Demonstrate honesty and integrity Demonstrate positive interactions with peers and clients Demonstrate maturity and sound judgement Good command of the written and oral English language Compensation/ Benefits Position pay range: $17.50 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and performance.
Holidays:
6 observed holidays per year Retirement Plan Working hours This position is 20-25 hours per week Work hours are scheduled to the client's needs Work site location
