Position Summary The PCA Trainee is an unlicensed caregiver participating in the PCA Upskilling Program, working under the direction of the Registered Nurse educator and their assigned preceptors. This position is responsible for completing the duration of the upskilling program while also supporting the nursing department to maintain smooth, effective communication between healthcare practitioners, departments, patients, and visitors. The PCA Trainee position is accountable for the learning and demonstrating accurate, timely documentation in the patient medical record. Ensures prompt, timely assistance which contributes to the patient's progress towards discharge. In addition, this program will teach participants to be accountable for patient admission, transfer, discharge flow processes, and for providing the most basic of patient care including data collection, personal hygiene, vital sign measurement and assistance with activities of daily living. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job 1. Demonstrates active listening to gain knowledge of the clinical and information technology systems. 2. Demonstrates active listening to gain knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees. 3. Manages and acknowledges patient-family-significant other expectations to create positive experiences. 4. Contributes to an effective, clean, and safe working environment. 5. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and discretion to maintain good relations with others. 6. Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies. 7. Follows directions and communicates with the registered nurse educator and other members of the healthcare team in an organized, clear, and timely manner. 8. Creates a positive working environment/culture by demonstrating positive communication skills. 9. Collects and documents information pertinent to the patient's status in the patient's electronic medical record and notifies the registered nurse of changes in patient's condition. 10. Actively engaged in learning to perform clerical duties related to admission, discharge and documentation of patient information. 11. Demonstrates the ability to safely maintain and competently use equipment in the delivery of patient care. 12. Be at work and be on time. 13. Follow company policies, procedures and directives. 14. Interact in a positive and constructive manner. 15. Prioritize and multitask. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Benefits and Rewards Qualifications Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience:
Basic computer skills preferred. Proficient in verbal and written English.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalency preferred. Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card preferred.
