Direct Support Professional Bright Light Support LLC Los Angeles, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $25 an hour 22 hours ago Benefits Paid training Mileage reimbursement Paid sick time Qualifications CPR Certification Assisting with ADLs High school diploma or GED First Aid Certification Meal preparation Direct support Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable Direct Support Professional to provide one-on-one support to an autistic individual with behavioral support needs. In this role, you will help promote safety, independence, communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills in a respectful and person-centered manner. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, attentive, and comfortable supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviors. This position is a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact by helping the individual build skills, participate in daily routines, and access the community with appropriate support. Responsibilities Provide direct one-on-one support in the home and community. Assist with daily routines, personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and other Activities of Daily Living as needed. Support the individual in developing independence, communication, social, and daily living skills. Implement behavior support strategies as outlined by the care team, supervisor, or behavior plan. Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviors while maintaining safety, dignity, and respect. Redirect, de-escalate, and support emotional regulation using positive and proactive strategies. Monitor the individual's needs, behavior patterns, and progress, and report concerns or changes to the supervisor. Support participation in community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and social opportunities. Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment. Complete required documentation, progress notes, and incident reports as needed. Follow all company policies, confidentiality guidelines, and safety procedures. Qualifications Experience working with autistic individuals, individuals with developmental disabilities, or individuals with behavioral support needs is highly preferred. Experience as a Direct Support Professional, caregiver, behavior technician, respite worker, or in a similar support role is a plus. Knowledge of autism support, positive behavior strategies, redirection, and de-escalation techniques is preferred. RBT experience or ABA experience is helpful but not required. CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but training may be provided. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written support plans. Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently. Must treat the individual with dignity, respect, and compassion at all times. Preferred Skills Experience with behavior support plans. Experience with documentation or progress notes (Will learn on the job). Ability to support community integration and independent living skills. Comfortable working one-on-one in home and community settings. Position Purpose As a Direct Support Professional, you will play an important role in helping the individual feel supported, safe, and empowered. Your work will help promote independence, confidence, and quality of life through consistent, compassionate, and respectful support.
