Job Description

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists the RN and LVN in providing routine and delegated non-professional basic personal care services for all ages (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric) according to the standards of practice of hospital and nursing unit policies. Patient care is provided under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse. The PCA is to assist the nurses in preparing needed records for the care and treatment of patients. They are also responsible for telephone communications, communications between the patients and physicians and/ or nurses and between the different nursing units and other departments within the hospital.
What You'll Do:
Delivers direct personal patient care under the supervision of the Licensed Nurse in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity and age and maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment. Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge of patient in the unit. Accurately takes and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, nutritional intake, and other measurements as applicable. Provides personal care related to hygiene, bathing, oral care, and toileting, etc. Documents patient care on clinical records for all daily tasks and monitoring, in a clear, accurate, and concise manner. Recognizes and responds to priorities in providing patient care. Carries out the nursing and medical plan of care as assigned.

Qualifications:
State of California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) State or National certification required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required. Telemetry certification required within 90 days.
Job Information:
Per diem, 12-hour, varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting wage $23.59 to $28.59 based on qualifications.
