This is a temporary position. We have one staff leaving on medical leave through June and possibly July, and we need to find someone that can cover these shifts for that time period. It is possible that at the end of this period we could extend the offer to a permanent position, but this is not garunteed at this point as we have a small team of only about 15 DSPs. The home is located in Seaside and we provide services for 6 residents, 3 male and 3 female with ages ranging from their 20's-their 60's. On this shift, you would be working with one-two other colleagues, so there would be 2-3 staff on duty, depending on which residents go to day program on a given day. You will be asked to help the residents wake up and get ready for their day program, to help with possible hygiene and light house keeping as they get ready to start their day. Then through the day you may go on outings or appointments with the residents that are staying at home for that day. We have a VERY good working environment and the work culture we strive for is peaceful, calm and not chaotic. Everyone who works hear really enjoys their position and we have a great team of 15 employees so far. DSP Overview In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives. Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene. Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary guidelines and individual preferences. Monitor patients' health and well-being, observing any changes in behavior or condition. Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote emotional well-being. Assist with mobility and physical support, including lifting when necessary. Document patient observations and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Support individuals in memory care tasks, helping them maintain cognitive functions through various activities. Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. Skills Experience in meal preparation and knowledge of nutritional guidelines. Proficient in patient monitoring techniques and home health practices. Certification in CPR is preferred but not required. Strong ability to assist individuals with physical needs, including lifting when necessary. Experience working with people who have developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Excellent observational skills to monitor patients effectively. Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.
