Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, and other health conditions. In this vital role, you will empower individuals to live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Duties Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition Administer medications following prescribed instructions and care plans while maintaining strict medication safety protocols Support clients during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and community integration Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning common areas and personal spaces Follow established care plans and document all care provided, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards such as HIPAA and confidentiality policies Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize signs of distress or medical emergencies Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, or working with individuals with autism is a plus Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in patient handling using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, healthcare teams, and social workers Familiarity with medication administration procedures and maintaining accurate documentation within HIPAA guidelines Compassionate attitude with patience for working with individuals experiencing disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or memory loss Valid driver's license may be required for community outings or client transportation Join us as a Direct Support Professional if you're passionate about making a positive impact through dedicated caregiving.
