$75.00 per group Position Overview Threshold to Recovery is seeking a compassionate and qualified Certified Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) to serve as a Certified Peer Coach within The Refinery program. This is a peer support role and is explicitly not a Qualified Behavioral Health Associate (QBHA) or clinical position. Services are limited to peer support as defined by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) and applicable state and federal guidelines. The Peer Coach will facilitate peer support groups and provide individual peer support sessions to male and female clients in Aurora, CO. Schedule is flexible and will vary based on client load and program need. Approximately 2-4 groups per week are expected in addition to individual sessions. Important Scope of Practice Clarification This position does not involve clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, or any service within the scope of a licensed clinician or QBHA. The Certified Peer Coach operates solely within the peer support scope of practice as defined by Colorado state guidelines and CMS peer specialist standards. Key Responsibilities Facilitate peer support groups (approximately 2-4 per week) using lived experience and evidence-informed peer recovery principles Provide individual peer support sessions to clients working through recovery from substance use disorder Model healthy recovery behaviors; serve as a source of hope, accountability, and community for clients Maintain appropriate peer boundaries and operate clearly within the peer support scope of practice at all times Collaborate with Threshold to Recovery staff to coordinate service delivery and ensure continuity of support Transport clients as needed using a personal vehicle or company van in accordance with program policy Complete required service documentation accurately and in a timely manner Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 (Substance Use Disorder Confidentiality) Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings as required by the program Required Qualifications Valid, current Colorado Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) certification — must be in good standing at time of hire and maintained throughout the contract Personal lived experience with substance use disorder and active, sustained personal recovery (required — this is a peer role, and lived experience is fundamental to the position) Valid Colorado driver's license with a clean driving record Reliable personal transportation for travel to client locations and program sites in Aurora, CO Demonstrated ability to qualify for and maintain coverage under Threshold to Recovery's corporate vehicle insurance policy (required for use of company van) Ability to work with both male and female clients in a professional peer support capacity Understanding of and commitment to core peer support values: hope, self-determination, person-centered care, and recovery Ability to maintain professional boundaries and appropriate scope of practice as a peer specialist Preferred Qualifications Experience facilitating peer support groups in a recovery or behavioral health setting Familiarity with the Aurora, CO recovery community and local resources Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented systems of care Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Compensation In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (C.R.S. § 8-5-101 et seq.), the compensation for this position is disclosed as follows: Individual peer support sessions: $20.00 per session Peer support group facilitation: $75.00 per group Schedule and session volume will vary based on program need. This compensation structure is fixed for this independent contractor role. Independent Contractor Status This is an independent contractor (1099) position. The Certified Peer Coach will not be classified as an employee of Threshold to Recovery. Contractors are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local tax obligations. This position does not include employee benefits, paid time off, unemployment insurance, or employment protections applicable to employees under Colorado or federal law. All contractors must maintain a valid CPFS certification, a valid Colorado driver's license, personal vehicle insurance, and the ability to qualify for Threshold to Recovery's corporate vehicle insurance policy throughout the duration of the contract.
