Responsibilities and Duties
  • Implement, track and record adaptive and/or behavioral Individual Service and Support Plans (ISSPs).
  • Complete and maintain paperwork per Brightlight Care policy and procedures.
  • Prevention and management of a crisis to provide a safe environment.
  • Provide supervision and actively engage participants while providing positive reinforcement.
  • Provide training in self-care, physical and emotional maturation, socialization, communication, leisure, education, vocational and community skills.
  • Implement habilitative activities per ISSPs.
  • Facilitate opportunities in the community to be included in work exposure and experience, social activities, and recreational leisure activities.
  • Build natural supports and community connections.
  • Maintain effective communication and active engagement in supporting the habilitation needs of assigned clients.
  • Administer medications per individual's order and document according to regulations.
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of all relevant training requirements.
  • Safely transport clients to and from the day program and community connections, including compliance with all vehicle use policies.
  • Implement protocols.

Experience:
  • Direct support, caregiver, 1 year (Preferred)
License:
  • Driver's License or ID, Valid Social Security Card/Green Card (Required)
Language:
  • English, required for writing contact notes (Required)
  • Work authorization:
  • United States (Required) Qualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Patience and kindness to facilitate person-centered approaches to increase client independence
  • The ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Experience working with adults with developmental & intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • Mature & dependable individual; minimum age of 21.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Stamina to be on feet and active for full work day
  • Ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training to enhance position related skills
  • Writing/Typing skills are required. Due to the limited amount of office time, you may have to complete office tasks, it is important that the ideal candidate can quickly complete Daily Contact notes, attendance tracking, MARS, and incident reports. Grammar, punctuation, and appropriate vocabulary are imperative to promoting a professional company image.
  • This is a fast-paced job.
As a Direct Care Professional, you will be required to make quick decisions regarding client needs, and respond to incidents in accordance with person-centered principles, safety care training, and mandatory reporting guidelines.
