Direct Support Professional-Adventurous Minds Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm $17.85 per hour All positions Contingent on passing a background check Must be 21+ and have a valid Driver's License due to Driving requirements
POSITION OVERVIEW
: Adventurous Minds provides opportunities for people with high physical, behavioral, and medical needs to interact in daily activities and interacting in the community by meeting new people/peers. The Vocational Direct Support Professional provides community support and daily caregiving to individuals to assist them in becoming a bigger part of their own choices. The DSP strives to assure the health and safety of persons served while also encouraging them to take reasonable risks to foster growth and independence. The DSP participates in person-centered planning and assists individuals in achieving their goals! There are complex duties depending on the behavioral, medical, and personal care needs of the individuals served. The DSP takes the lead role in coordinating higher quality of life experiences for the individuals they serve in the program.RESPONSIBILITIES
:- As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide compassionate care helping support individuals with disabilities live fuller lives.
- Listen attentively and take general interest in assisting people with enjoying meals, maintain personal hygiene, and learning their routines.
- Support individuals in assisting them with making and maintaining relationships with friends, family, and their loved ones. Assisting with making phone calls, setting up get-togethers, and regular interactions. Must be able to drive and have valid drivers license.
- Assist with medical needs, including monitoring health, administering medications, and daily documentation. Strive provides training with QMAP Qualification, CPR, and Vital Signs for maintaining individuals' health and well-being.
- Assist with transporting and getting individuals out into the community, for work and recreational experiences.
- Collaborate with Co-workers and supervisor in maintaining a positive and safe program/work environment.
Site Specific Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to carry heavy weights (over 50 lbs.) occasionally.
- Ability to squat frequently.
- Ability to reach overhead, forward and to the side frequently.
- Ability to perform move and balance to assist with transfers occasionally. Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Experience in patient monitoring and medication administration.
- Core skills in caregiving, with premium skills in assisted living, ADLs, and patient care.
- Relevant experience in working with people with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's care, and senior care.
- Knowledge of vital signs, first aid, and HIPAA regulations.
