General Purpose The Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in supporting adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities within our day services program. In addition to providing direct support to individuals in day program, this position takes on leadership responsibilities, including training and mentoring DSPs, planning client activities, and supporting with the day program schedule. Building genuine relationships and offering person-centered support are at the core of this role, aiming at helping clients achieve their individual goals and enhance their quality of life. Essential Duties Provide leadership and guidance to DSPs, ensuring adherence to person-centered support principles and agency policies. Coordinate transportation arrangements to facilitate access to community activities. Foster positive communication and collaboration with clients, providers and agency team members Assist the Program Coordinators in shift scheduling and provide support as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Service and Support Plans (ISSPs) and/or Behavior Intervention Support and Service plans (BISSPs) to facilitate client goal attainment. Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals in our care. Implement and complete tracking for ISSPs and/or BISSPs to enrich the lives of the individuals we support by helping them achieve their goals. Effectively support individuals with a variety of communication and behavioral needs to promote emotional regulation and physical safety of consumers and Karuna staff members, and provide additional support when necessary. Provide transportation, as needed, to support individuals to access their community. Administer medication and complete the Medication Administration Record (MAR) according to current physician's orders and individual consumer support needs. Complete documentation timely, accurately, and thoroughly to ensure compliance with HCPF and State Medicaid regulations. Responsible for timely reporting and overseeing consumer well-being through appropriate incident report documentation. Utilize company systems to communicate and collaborate with other Karuna team members, including case manager(s), program coordinator(s), and the supervisory team. Collaborate with the consumer, IDT members, and medical staff to remain current on individual support needs, goals, and ensure consistent supports are provided. Attend regularly scheduled team meetings for ongoing training, support, and to develop team rapport. Collaborate closely with the program coordinator on shift scheduling and support where needed. Ensure all required trainings are completed and up to date including KPS trainings, CPR/FA, QMAP, and SCM. Job Qualifications Education and Experience:
High School diploma is required. Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis. Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred. Other Qualifications:
Ability to manage crises and adapt to rapidly changing demands of the position, consumer and agency needs. Ability to effectively problem solve and independently utilize available resources. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Maintain a valid driver's license and meet Karuna Care Services' driving requirements The position requires the use of a personal vehicle with liability insurance that meets Karuna Care Services' standards. Work Environment The Lead Direct Support Professional reports to the Program Coordinator. Regular working hours are Monday-Friday during business hours. This position is spent supporting individuals in their community, and also includes some office work for training and documentation. Job Type:
