Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance, ensuring safety, comfort, and engagement for residents across various care settings. Your dedication will help foster a supportive environment where individuals can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while developing valuable skills in healthcare and caregiving. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare teams. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safe and timely delivery of treatments. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and assist with meal service to promote proper nutrition. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in residents' rooms and common areas. Engage residents through social activities, recreational programs, and companionship to promote mental well-being. Document care activities meticulously, adhering to privacy standards such as HIPAA, and update care plans regularly to reflect evolving needs. Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care including Alzheimer's and memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or hospice care experience are advantageous. Experience with patient monitoring tools, medication administration procedures, and vital signs measurement is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Familiarity with care plans development and implementation within long-term care or home health environments is desirable. Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining a compassionate approach. Join us in making a positive impact every day!
