Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other care needs in home and community-based settings. DSPs play a crucial role in promoting independence, safety, daily living skills, and meaningful engagement. We partner with multiple programs throughout DC/MD/VA and offer flexible schedules, consistent support, and ongoing opportunities. High preference and increased opportunities for DSPs that have medication administration certifications and behavioral support certifications. Responsibilities Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meals. Support individuals in a variety of environments such as group homes, supported living, and in-home care. Monitor health, wellness, and safety; communicate concerns promptly. Follow individualized care plans and support routines. Assist with community integration, social activities, and appointments. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Provide companionship, emotional support, and positive interactions. Use equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers (training available). Participate in required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, dementia care, or behavioral support as needed. Qualifications Previous experience in caregiving, home health care, or direct support roles is preferred. Familiarity with group home settings or long-term care experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and the ability to monitor client behavior effectively. Strong communication skills to interact positively with clients, families, and team members. Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for client transfers or assistance. Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus; training may be provided for qualified candidates. Understanding of Alzheimer's care principles and experience working with individuals with dementia is beneficial. A background in nursing or social work can enhance the effectiveness of the role , but it is not mandatory.
