Direct Support Professional

Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs, assist with meal service, and maintain a clean dining environment. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including memory care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote mental stimulation and socialization. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols, cleaning procedures, and safety standards such as CPR and first aid certifications. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Certifications in CPR, first aid, HIPAA compliance, and Alzheimer's or dementia care are advantageous. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts or resident transfers. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. Experience in caring for seniors or individuals requiring hospice or memory care services is desirable.
