Direct Support Professional

Duties Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans developed by healthcare professionals. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and assist with meal planning and cooking to promote healthy living. Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and organization of living spaces in compliance with health standards. Engage residents in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and mental stimulation. Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA and assist in updating individual care plans regularly. Qualifications Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia or Alzheimer's care is highly preferred. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in group home settings or assisted living environments; experience with home health or hospice care is advantageous. Strong patient observation skills to monitor health status and recognize signs of distress or emergencies. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, assist with transfers using Hoyer lifts, and support residents during mobility activities. Compassionate attitude combined with excellent communication skills to build trusting relationships with residents and team members.
