Job Description

Job Desciption Nia Grace Support Services is seeking compassionate, dependable, and purpose-driven individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). DSPs play an essential role in supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities by promoting independence, community inclusion, and a high quality of life. Our team members provide person-centered support that respects the dignity, choices, and unique abilities of every individual we serve. Position Summary The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and assistance to individuals receiving services through the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) Medicaid Waiver Program. This role focuses on helping individuals develop life skills, participate in community activities, and maintain independence in a safe and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate, respectful, and person-centered support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities Assist individuals with daily living activities as needed Support community inclusion activities such as outings, errands, and social engagement Teach and reinforce independent living and life skills Follow each individual's support plan and service authorization Document services accurately in accordance with APD and Medicaid requirements Maintain the health, safety, and dignity of each individual served Communicate professionally with families, support coordinators, and agency leadership Report any incidents, concerns, or emergencies immediately following agency protocols Qualifications Must be 18 years or older High school diploma or GED preferred Compassionate, patient, and reliable Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and responsibly Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Screening (required by Florida APD) Required Training (Completed or within the required timeframe) Employees must complete all required trainings through TrainFL or agency-approved platforms, including but not limited to: APD Zero Tolerance Training HIPAA and Confidentiality CPR / First Aid Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation Prevention Incident Reporting Procedures Work Environment Direct Support Professionals may work in a variety of settings including: Client homes Community locations Recreational and social environments This role may require standing, walking, assisting with mobility, and participating in community activities.
