Job Description
Job Summary Job Overview I am seeking a part-time female Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our 35-year-old daughter, who has a developmental disability. Our daughter lives in a townhome in the Edgewood neighborhood in Atlanta, with two other young ladies who have disabilities, along with a neurotypical peer. At this time, I am looking for someone to volunteer with her at Children Read Atlanta on Tuesdays and PAWS Animal Shelter (must feel comfortable walking dogs and hanging out with cats) on Thursdays. The hours are 9:00am - 1:00pm on both days. R esponsibilities
- Supporting the client in getting ready for her day to ensure she has completed her personal hygiene and picked up after breakfast
- Supporting the client in both her volunteer opportunities
- Adhering to daily note documentation requirements. Requirements
- Previous experience in direct support roles, such as home health aide or caregiver, is preferred but not required.
- The traits we are looking for in a DSP include being compassionate, patient, and reliable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, family, and team members.
- Must have a valid driver's license and have a car.
- Must have a high school diploma. Some post-secondary education is valued.
- Someone close to the client's age of 35, and willing to commit to at least one year.
- Must agree to undergo a background check.
