Job Description

Overview Join our compassionate healthcare team as a Hospice Patient Sitter, where your dedication and caring nature will make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients nearing the end of life. In this vital role, you will provide attentive, respectful companionship and support to hospice patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with healthcare professionals and families, delivering personalized care that enhances quality of life during a sensitive and important time. All roles are paid positions committed to fostering a nurturing environment for both patients and caregivers. This is a PRN position Duties Observe and monitor hospice patients closely, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support Help with meal preparation and feeding to promote proper nutrition and hydration Record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration in accordance with care plans Support patients with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care, using appropriate behavioral management techniques Maintain cleanliness of patient areas through light cleaning duties to ensure a hygienic environment Document patient interactions and observations accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems while respecting HIPAA privacy standards Assist with transportation or driving when necessary for appointments or errands under supervision Follow safety protocols such as first aid procedures and proper lifting techniques including heavy lifting or use of Hoyer lifts when needed Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to implement individualized care plans and behavior management strategies Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home care environments preferred Knowledge of hospice care practices, including working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, or autism spectrum disorder Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures Experience assisting with ADLs and providing compassionate senior or hospice care Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism while managing conflict effectively Valid driver's license for driving responsibilities; clean driving record preferred Certification in first aid and CPR required; additional certifications in caregiving or medical support are a plus Familiarity with EMR systems, HIPAA regulations, and medication administration protocols Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts or resident transfers Join us in providing heartfelt support during one of life's most meaningful moments. $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
