Job Description

Overview Join our compassionate team as a Personal Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring support with daily activities and personal care. This vital role offers an opportunity to provide empathetic, respectful, and high-quality care in various settings, including assisted living facilities, home health environments, and community-based programs. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will be a trusted companion, helping clients maintain independence, dignity, and well-being through dedicated caregiving and support. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to promote comfort and independence. Monitor patients' health by taking vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any changes to healthcare professionals promptly. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning patient areas and laundry. Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and progress accurately to update care plans effectively. Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer devices to assist with patient mobility safely. Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance mental well-being, especially for individuals with dementia or memory care needs. Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement personalized care plans that meet each client's unique needs. Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures; respond swiftly in emergency situations or incidents. Qualifications Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly desirable. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, autism support, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance preferred. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in patient handling. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes accurately. Excellent communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams. Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others. Valid driver's license or reliable transportation may be beneficial depending on the role location.
