Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The DSP will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in various settings, including group homes and community care environments. This position requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve through personalized care and support. Responsibilities Provide direct care and support to individuals, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. Assist clients in participating in community activities and social events to promote engagement and inclusion. Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, focusing on their strengths and preferences. Provide first aid as necessary and ensure a safe environment for all clients. Assist with heavy lifting when required, ensuring the safety of both clients and staff during transfers or mobility assistance. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients in long-term care or memory care settings. Qualifications Previous experience in long-term care, home community care, or group home settings is preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and the ability to recognize changes in client conditions is essential. Certification in First Aid is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed while maintaining safety protocols. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and privacy is required.
