As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), your primary role is to help individuals increase their independence, confidence, and overall quality of life through compassionate care, encouragement, and daily support. - Providing companionship and emotional support
- Assisting with meal preparation and light housekeeping
- Medication reminders
- Helping individuals with errands and community activities
- Supporting personal care needs such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Encouraging independence and life skills development
- Participating in activities such as games, exercise, crafts, and memory-building activities
- Following individualized support plans and program guidelines
- Creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment
Qualifications:
- Compassionate, dependable, and patient
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- At least 18 years old
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and handle challenging situations appropriately
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required
- Caregiving experience preferred: 6 months paid experience OR 1 year unpaid experience caring for others
