Full Job Description Schedule Every Other Weekend:
Sunday 3pm-8pm Saturday 9am-4pm Job Summary As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including home care environments, the community, and residential homes. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to promoting independence, dignity, and respect for all clients. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, cleaning and meal preparation. Provide patient care and support in accordance with individualized care plans. Monitor and document clients activities and overall health status. Ensuring individual safety and maintaining a safe environment Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to medication schedules. Engage clients in social activities and promote community involvement. Implement strategies for behavior management and support individuals with autism or developmental disabilities. Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks. Assist with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and update care plans. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain client confidentiality. Planning meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up Accompanying individual(s) to scheduled appointments Transporting individual(s) or running errands for individuals Implement the individual's support plan to reach their goals Participate in annual trainings Supervisor - House Manager and/or Program Director Minimum Requirements Willing to Transport Successfully complete a 90-day orientation Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Ability to handle physical aspects of the job. Including bending, stooping, lifting, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time Skills First Aid and CPR certification are required. (If you do not currently have those, we can assist you with getting those.) Must have Negative TB test (If you have not taken a TB test in the past 2 years, we can assist you with getting one.) Must have valid drivers license and means of transportation. Experience working in group homes or assisted living settings is desirable. Strong patient observation skills to monitor changes in client behavior or health status. Ability to perform lifting (up to 25 lbs) as required by client needs. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members. Compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in caregiving and supporting individuals with disabilities.
