Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing homes, senior care, or memory care settings and possess a strong commitment to advocating for resident rights. Duties Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Monitor the health and well-being of residents, providing patient monitoring to identify any changes in condition. Support individuals in developing and maintaining life skills that promote independence and enhance their quality of life. Facilitate social interactions and community engagement opportunities for residents. Ensure compliance with all resident rights and uphold dignity and respect in all interactions. Document care provided and report any concerns or changes in residents' conditions to the appropriate staff members. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create individualized support plans tailored to each resident's needs. Requirements Previous experience in nursing homes, senior care, or memory care is preferred. Familiarity with working with people with developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of medication administration protocols and patient monitoring techniques is essential. CPR and Core A and Core B Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding towards individuals with diverse needs. Commitment to upholding resident rights and promoting a supportive environment for all individuals served. Certification or training related to direct support or caregiving is a plus but not mandatory.
