Full-Time Position Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP)
  • Technology Monitoring Specialist provides on-site support and remote monitoring of individuals receiving Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) in residential settings.
This role combines traditional DSP responsibilities with the use of assistive monitoring technology through the Shiftability system to promote independence, safety, and timely assistance for individuals served. The DSP will actively monitor technology alerts, respond to client needs, and provide in-person assistance when necessary. The ideal candidate is an experienced DSP who understands HCBS services, person-centered supports, and the balance between independence and safety. Essential Job Duties Technology Monitoring
  • Monitor individuals using the Shiftability system and associated assistive technologies.
  • Respond promptly to alerts, notifications, or support requests generated by monitoring technology.
  • Assess alerts to determine whether remote support or in-person assistance is needed.
  • Document monitoring activities, alerts, and responses according to agency policy and HCBS requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy while monitoring clients. Direct Support Services
  • Provide in-person support to individuals when alerts indicate assistance is needed.
  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks as required by their person-centered support plan.
  • Promote independence while ensuring health and safety.
  • Support individuals with routines such as medication reminders, mobility assistance, and nighttime safety checks (as applicable). Client Safety and Well-Being
  • Monitor the well-being of individuals served and respond to emergencies or health concerns.
  • Follow all emergency procedures and safety protocols.
  • Communicate concerns or incidents to supervisors promptly. Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services, alerts, and interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with Kansas HCBS regulations and agency policies.
  • Participate in required training. Team Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, nurses, case managers, and other DSPs.
  • Provide feedback on client needs and technology effectiveness.
  • Assist with implementing person-centered plans and behavioral supports. Qualifications Required
  • Previous experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) or in a similar caregiving role.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to use monitoring software and basic computer systems.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to alerts and emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Valid driver's license (transportation of clients may be required). Preferred
  • Experience in HCBS Residential Services.
  • Experience using assistive technology or remote support systems.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

  • Residential home setting supporting individuals receiving HCBS services.
  • On-site monitoring station with assistive technology systems.
  • May include evening, overnight, weekend, or rotating shifts depending on program needs.

$18.00
