Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional to empower individuals with disabilities, developmental challenges, or age-related conditions to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support, fostering a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being and community involvement. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols. Follow detailed care plans designed by healthcare teams for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other disabilities, ensuring personalized support at all times. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or dementia/cognitive impairment care are advantageous. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts. Strong communication skills with a caring attitude toward individuals with developmental disabilities or aging-related conditions such as Alzheimer's or dementia. Experience with medication administration, care planning, and working within HIPAA guidelines ensures compliance and safety.
