Community and Home-Based Services Position Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, skill-building, and community support to children enrolled in the Children's Waiver Program. The DSP is responsible for assisting children with daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring health and safety, implementing individualized service plans, and supporting children in achieving their personal goals within their home and community environments. The DSP serves as a positive role model while maintaining the dignity, rights, and well-being of each child served. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct Care & Support Provide direct support and supervision to children receiving Children's Waiver services. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, eating, and mobility as needed. Promote independence by teaching age-appropriate life skills and self-care skills. Support children in developing social, communication, and behavioral skills. Implement goals and objectives outlined in the Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP). Community Integration Assist children in participating in community activities and recreational outings. Encourage inclusion and participation in school, social, and community events. Provide transportation when authorized and maintain safe transportation practices. Health & Safety Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of children at all times. Monitor for changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral health and report concerns immediately. Administer medications as trained and authorized according to agency policies. Follow emergency procedures, crisis intervention plans, and behavior support plans. Maintain required certifications and training. Documentation Complete accurate service notes and documentation on the date of service. Document progress toward goals and objectives. Report incidents, accidents, injuries, medication errors, or unusual occurrences according to agency policy. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency standards. Family & Team Collaboration Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, case managers, therapists, nurses, and other team members. Participate in team meetings and training as required. Support family-centered care and respect family preferences and cultural values. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum age of 18 years. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance. Ability to pass criminal background checks and drug screening. CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Experience working with children, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, or special needs preferred. Ability to lift, transfer, and assist children when necessary. Strong observation and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist children as needed. Ability to accompany children during community activities and outings. Ability to respond quickly during emergencies. Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
