We are seeking a enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatients team at our Chelsea site. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are looking to build on their existing skills and take on additional responsibilities within a specialist oncology setting. About the role As a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of outpatient clinics and delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients. You will work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to a safe and efficient patient journey.
Your duties will include:
- Supporting a wide range of outpatient clinics across different specialties
- Monitoring and recording patient observations and reporting any concerns
- Providing emotional support to patients undergoing investigations and treatment
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical environment
- Undertaking phlebotomy duties (training can be supported if required)

Job Description and Person Specification :
Clinical Responsibility 2.1 To practice the Care Certificate and support junior staff to achieve the standards. Communicate with tact, empathy, overcome barriers to understanding e.g., patients with physical impairment, mental health conditions or learning disabilities. 2.2 Monitoring and recording patients' vital signs (including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation) and reporting any abnormal results to registered nursing staff. Assess comfortof patient and instigate emergency procedures. 2.3 Measuring and recording patients' height and weight. 2.4 Performing venepuncture and venous blood sampling, after training and assessment of competency. 2.5 Undertakes a limited range of delegated clinical care duties relevant to the specific clinical area following competency sign off, for example, ECG, urinalysis, catheter removal, MRSA screening swabs, blood glucose monitoring, pregnancy testing, removal of peripheral cannula, observing patients for signs of agitation or distress, providing heightened observation through specialing/ enhanced care, recording of allergies on EPR and other clinical tasks where training/competency sign off deemed appropriate for a Band 3 HCSW that has been ratified through NAHPC. Person specification Education/Qualifications Essential criteria Completed Care Certificate Demonstrable experience of working in a healthcare setting. Evidence of ongoing professional development Desirable criteria NVQ in Health and Social Care Level 2, working towards Level 3 Experience Essential criteria Experience of working in a healthcare setting for a duration long enough to have obtained relevant competencies for a Band 3 position.
