Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional to support residents during nighttime hours and help ensure a safe, calm, and supportive home. The Role The Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional is responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive environment throughout the night. This role includes monitoring the home, supporting any overnight needs, completing basic household tasks, and helping ensure a smooth and respectful transition into the morning. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, attentive, and comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative household team. Key Responsibilities Safety & Overnight Support Remain awake and attentive throughout the shift Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all residents Monitor overnight routines, sleep patterns, and individual needs Respond to health, behavioral, or safety concerns as they arise Follow all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and human rights guidelines Ensure and safeguard each person's dignity, rights, and well-being at all times Individualized Support Provide support as needed with nighttime routines, personal care, and comfort Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting and hygiene Support individuals with higher support needs, which may include behavioral or communication supports Use a calm, respectful, and person-centered approach in all interactions Support implementation of individualized plans, including behavior support strategies Household Responsibilities Maintain a clean, calm, and organized home environment overnight Complete light housekeeping tasks (laundry, dishes, tidying shared spaces, end-of-shift cleanup) Assist with preparing for the morning (e.g., breakfast prep, setting up common areas) Documentation & Communication Complete overnight notes, logs, and required documentation accurately and on time Record any incidents, behavioral concerns, or changes in status and complete incident reports as needed Document relevant observations related to individual goals and supports Communicate important updates to the House Manager, supervisors, and incoming staff Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications Morning Transition Support residents as they begin their day, as needed Assist with morning routines (hygiene, dressing, breakfast preparation) Help ensure a smooth and organized transition to daytime staff Professional Expectations Demonstrate respect, empathy, and a positive attitude in all interactions Work collaboratively with staff, families, and community members Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality Attend team meetings and complete all required trainings Follow all Branching Tree policies, including medication administration (MAP) requirements Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the home and community Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old High School Diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license and safe driving record Experience supporting individuals with IDD preferred Willingness to obtain required certifications, as needed (CPR/First Aid, MAP, etc.) Skills & Qualities Reliable, attentive, and able to work independently Warm, respectful, and person-centered approach Strong communication and documentation skills Ability to remain calm and responsive in unexpected situations Sensitivity to individual, family, and cultural values Alignment with Branching Tree's values of belonging, dignity, and community Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate Ongoing training and support Opportunity to be part of a unique, relationship-centered community Why This Role Matters Overnight support helps ensure that Branching Tree remains a safe, peaceful, and truly supportive home.
