Direct Support Professional

Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting concerns promptly to healthcare professionals. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs, assist with feeding when necessary, and maintain a clean dining environment. Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being. Maintain a safe environment by performing cleaning duties, adhering to infection control protocols, and ensuring safety hazards are addressed immediately. Document care activities accurately in resident records while respecting privacy and confidentiality standards such as HIPAA. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, autism support, or hospice care is a plus. Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient care; ability to recognize changes in condition promptly. Physical stamina for heavy lifting and assisting residents with mobility; familiarity with equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident transfer devices is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers effectively.
