Job Description

MVRA is looking for an energetic, outdoors-oriented Direct Support Professional to join our Community Supports Program. This is not a desk job — we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys staying active, being out in the community, and creating meaningful experiences for others. The ideal candidate is someone who loves activities like hiking, fishing, camping, trail walking, attending sporting events, and finding creative ways to keep people engaged and involved. You'll support individuals with intellectual disabilities in building confidence, independence, friendships, and healthy active lifestyles through hands-on community experiences and recreational activities. A major part of this role includes helping organize, support, and coach the All Stars Special Olympics team in a variety of sports throughout the year. We're looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, leadership, creativity, and organization to practices, competitions, team events, and community activities. This role is also perfect for someone who enjoys thinking outside the box — planning group activities, organizing community outings, and helping coordinate creative fundraising events that bring people together and support program opportunities.
  • What You'll Do Support individuals in community-based activities and recreational outings Plan and participate in outdoor adventures including hiking, camping, fishing, and other active experiences Encourage healthy lifestyles, teamwork, confidence, and independence Coach and support the Special Olympics team across multiple sports and seasonal activities Help plan, organize, and participate in fundraising events and community activities Bring creativity and energy to developing engaging experiences and opportunities Organize schedules, activities, transportation, and community events Build positive relationships while helping individuals achieve personal goals Provide occasional flexibility for evening, weekend, or overnight events, trips, competitions, or fundraisers•What We're Looking For Someone energetic, active, creative, patient, and dependable A person who enjoys the outdoors and staying involved in the community Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to motivate, encourage, and lead others in recreational and athletic settings Comfortable taking initiative and planning activities independently High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license and insured/registered/inspected vehicle required Experience in human services, coaching, recreation, athletics, or event planning is helpful, but not required•Benefits Health insurance for full-time employees Earned Paid Time Off (PTO) Paid holidays 401(k) options Paid training and professional development Company vehicle access for activities or mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle Supportive team environment focused on growth, inclusion, and community engagement At MVRA, we believe some of the best support happens outside the walls of an office — on hiking trails, around campfires, at practices, during fundraisers, and while celebrating achievements both big and small.
If you're someone who enjoys staying active, building connections, coaching others toward success, and bringing creative ideas to life, we'd love to hear from you.
