GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This role involves recruitment, training and supervision of Direct Support Professionals who provide onsite support to individuals with disabilities who are working toward vocational and activities of daily living goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High school diploma or equivalency, two years college preferred.
Other:
Three to four years related work experience with individuals with developmental, emotional and/or physical impairments preferred. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. First Aid and CPR certification required. Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, task analysis and fluency in American Sign Language is a plus. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with employers, public, customers and staff are required. Position requires composition skills sufficient to prepare required reports. Driving record must be sufficient to meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier. Valid Michigan driver's license is required as well as reliable automotive transportation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage day to day operations of assigned Supported Employment and Skill Building sites. Interview, orient, train and supervise designated staff. Complete written performance evaluations as required. Provide ongoing feedback to staff and provide corrective action as necessary. Submit weekly time sheet information for staff payroll. Ensure comprehensive quality standards and support services meet employer's expectations and/or funding source requirements through file review and site visits. Assist the Direct Support Professional/Employment (as applicable) and Case Managers in modifying the job and/or creating adaptive devices to accommodate individual participant disability. Ensure that assigned staff are completing assigned reports/notes, trainings and timesheets on time. Assist in identifying new Supported Employment and Skill Building sites. Provide formal and informal in-service/training, including role modeling to employers, co-workers, and participants to facilitate social integration at the work site. Complete data entry, reporting and data collection projects as needed. Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
Supplemental Duties:
Provide and/or supervise on-going follow along services to participants. Ability to work flexible hours in the community and facility settings as well as travel to local sites in less than a day's notice. Transport participants using own vehicle or agency van, as needed. Perform job coaching services as necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental conditions: Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). Ability to work both inside or outside of buildings; in a confined area or settings where there may be exposure to heat, cold, humidity; dust and cleaning solutions. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting in required. Accommodation(s): As appropriate and fiscally reasonable.
