Job Description

  • Job Overview
  • As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness with behaviors.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support in various settings, including home health environments and community-based programs. You will assist clients in daily living activities, promote their independence, and ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Support clients with meal preparation and nutritional needs.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor for side effects.
  • Assist individuals with mobility and heavy lifting as needed.
  • Engage clients in social activities to promote socialization and community involvement.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
  • Document daily activities, progress, and any changes in client condition.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop individualized care plans.
  • Qualifications
  • Experience with developmentally disabled and mentally ill in a AFC settings is preferred.
  • Background in social work or related fields is a plus.
  • Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities and mental illness is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with physical mobility challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
  • Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
