Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or age-related conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to promoting independence, safety, and well-being while fostering a supportive environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those served by delivering personalized care in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based programs. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and respect. Monitor residents' health status by observing vital signs, patient monitoring, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly. Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality. Support residents during meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition by assisting with cooking and feeding as needed. Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, autism support, and memory care. Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with heavy lifting tasks safely to prevent injury. Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties in accordance with health standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive resident care. Participate in training related to first aid, CPR, hospice care, and other relevant certifications to enhance caregiving skills. Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and medication administration procedures. Experience providing long-term care or working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism or dementia is preferred. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality is essential. Proven ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices. Background in nursing or home health services adds value; certification in CPR and first aid is required or will be provided upon hire. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team committed to compassionate resident support.
