Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional in a residential care setting, where your compassion and energy will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or memory care requirements. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support to residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while fostering independence and community engagement. Your proactive approach and caring attitude will help create a nurturing environment where residents thrive. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity. Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health management. Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Support residents with mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers to ensure safety. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. Engage residents in social activities and recreational programs to enhance mental stimulation and socialization. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment by performing light housekeeping duties consistent with home & community care standards. Document daily interactions, incidents, and health updates thoroughly in compliance with facility policies. Drive residents when necessary for appointments or outings, ensuring safe transportation practices. Collaborate with team members, healthcare professionals, families, and social workers to develop personalized care plans that meet each resident's unique needs. Skills Proven experience in assisted living, long-term care, or home & community care environments. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and behavior management techniques. Ability to perform CPR/First Aid certification to respond effectively during emergencies. Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring. Strong caregiving skills with experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with residents, families, and team members. Competency in using EMR systems for documentation and record keeping.
