Assisting with ADLs Home health Bathing assistance Full Job Description Job Overview As a Home Health Aide, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in their homes or community settings. Your primary responsibility will be to assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting their independence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about enhancing the quality of life for those in need, including seniors and individuals with disabilities. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment. Monitor and document vital signs, changes in client conditions, and report any concerns to the supervising nurse or healthcare professional. Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper medication management. Assist with meal preparation and cooking, ensuring dietary needs are met. Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment. Utilize EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping. Provide specialized care for clients with Alzheimer's or dementia, ensuring safety and comfort through memory care techniques. Support clients with catheter care and other personal hygiene tasks as needed. Use assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely when transferring clients. Engage in hospice care practices when required, providing compassionate end-of-life support. Qualifications Previous experience in home health, senior care, or long-term care settings is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and basic nursing skills is beneficial. Certification in CPR is required; additional certifications related to caregiving are a plus. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality is essential. Strong observational skills to monitor client health status effectively. Ability to perform light cleaning and meal preparation tasks competently. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
