Overview Care Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under the supervision of registered nurses. Assignment of job responsibilities are as delegated by registered nurses assigned to supervise the care assistant and in accordance with this job description. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources. Responsibilities Provides supportive patient care. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficient and safe operations. Unit Secretary/clerical functions. Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees. s responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skills) Qualifications HS diploma or equivalent and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training Experience patient or customer facing roles preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or If not a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) one of the following criteria must be met: Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing education program and have successfully completed the fundamentals in nursing course. Within the past 3 years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examination in any state.
