We are seeking a dynamic and responsible Personal Care Assistant to provide direct support to an extraordinary young woman attending her Second year at MU. This position presents an exceptional opportunity to make a positive impact on the life of an extraordinary individual, enabling them to thrive and achieve their goals. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with feeding and food preparation, ensuring dietary preferences and restrictions are followed.
  • Provide support in getting to class and other campus locations, ensuring safe and timely arrival.
  • Aid in toileting, including assisting with changing adult diapers in a hospital bed.
  • Help with bathing and lifting in a handicap-accessible shower stall, prioritizing safety and comfort.
  • Assist in brushing teeth and combing hair, ensuring personal grooming is maintained.
  • Aid in dressing and putting on specific medical devices such as AFOs (ankle-foot orthoses) and wrist braces.
  • Willingness to assist in cleaning and maintaining the individual's room and bathroom.
  • Support in washing laundry and ensuring proper organization.
  • Provide guidance and support in using various electronic devices such as computers and phones.
  • DRIVE Handicap Van to and from appointments upon need
Requirements:
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Genuine interest in supporting individuals with diverse abilities and needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish a positive rapport.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Sensitivity towards the individual's needs and preferences.
  • Respect for privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in caregiving, personal assistance, or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of disabilities, and willingness to learn and adapt to individual needs.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
