Want to make a difference in the lives of others? Become a Direct Support Professional with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities reach their personal goals. Asheville, NC $16/hr 15-20 hr/wk Extra hours available with other clients upon request. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the provision of overall support and care for individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. Those that Skill Creations Inc. Serves in this capacity are individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the individual?s home and/or in a community setting, providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan(s) of care. The Direct Support Professional may assist with personal care, behavioral support, medication administration, job coaching and assistance and/or independent living skills. The Direct Support Professional also provides educational opportunities in the areas of communication and recreation/leisure.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED from an accredited school Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule is expected. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays. Valid Driver?s license and acceptable Driving Record Criminal Record Check Successful completion of course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management. Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data. Ability to lift 50lbs, remain standing for most of the time, and occasionally balance, bend, kneel, and stoop. Ability to meet the individual client specific needs
