Otter House Wellness - Weekend Peer Support Specialist (Weekend Shift / Occasional Fill-In) Otter House Wellness is hiring a Weekend Peer Support Specialist to support our housed male clients in a structured recovery environment. This role is hands-on and relationship-driven—focused on helping residents maintain stability, follow house expectations, practice recovery tools, and build healthy routines outside of clinical hours. You'll provide mentorship, accountability, and real-time support during weekend shifts, including transport/outings, wellness check-ins, house structure, and de-escalation when needed. This position is ideal for someone who is calm under pressure, consistent, and aligned with recovery values—and who is looking for a primarily weekend schedule with the flexibility to occasionally fill in during the week.
Schedule Primary availability:
Saturday and Sunday Flexible between first and second shift (exact hours set during hiring) Occasional weekday fill-in shifts as needed This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking supplemental work or a flexible schedule Key Responsibilities Client Support & Recovery Coaching Provide peer-based support, encouragement, and accountability to male residents Help clients follow daily structure, routines, and house expectations Support recovery-focused decision making (coping skills, communication, boundaries, relapse prevention) Model healthy behavior and recovery language while maintaining professional boundaries Housing Operations & Structure Maintain a stable, respectful, and safe living environment Conduct regular check-ins and wellness observations (mood, stress, agitation, isolation, risk indicators) Support medication reminders per policy (non-clinical support; no medical decision-making) Document key shift notes/incidents according to program expectations Outings, Transportation, and Community Support Coordinate and accompany clients on approved outings (meetings, gym, community activities, appointments as assigned) Provide safe transportation as needed in accordance with policy Support pro-social community engagement and recovery activities Safety, Compliance, and Communication Maintain appropriate supervision and respond to conflicts, rule violations, or behavioral concerns Use de-escalation strategies and follow escalation protocols when safety risks arise Communicate effectively with housing leadership and the clinical team (handoffs, concerns, updates) Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing skill development Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or equivalent Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage boundaries Ability to stay calm, consistent, and professional in a recovery environment Valid driver's license + clean driving record (if transporting clients) Ability to pass background screening (as applicable) Must be available both Saturday and Sunday Minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety/clean time required Preferred Qualifications Peer Support certification Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, sober living, or residential support Lived experience in recovery (welcomed, not required) Familiarity with trauma-informed care and motivational communication
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
