In this vital role, you will be a dedicated advocate, assisting clients with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create a positive environment where individuals can thrive and feel valued every day. Responsibilities Daily Living & Personal Care ADLs & IADLs:
Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
Community Integration & Vocation Transportation:
Driving clients or arranging transit to medical appointments, social outings, and community events.
Social & Recreational:
Helping individuals build natural support networks, pursue hobbies, and engage in local activities.
Employment Support:
Acting as a job coach, assisting with customized employment duties, and building vocational skills.
TBI & IDD
Specific Interventions Cognitive & Behavioral Support:
Implementing positive behavior supports (PBS), de-escalation protocols, and utilizing creative accommodations for memory or executive functioning deficits associated with TBI.
Skill Building:
Mentoring clients to improve communication, decision-making, and daily problem-solving skills.
Advocacy & Rights:
Empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect in the broader community.
Documentation & Compliance Daily Record Keeping:
Documenting progress toward personal plan goals, behavioral assessments, and shift notes digitally or on paper.
Safety & Crisis Intervention:
Maintaining current CPR and First Aid certifications, and following emergency protocols.
Agency Compliance:
Adhering strictly to state/Medicaid regulations and organizational policies.
Nutrition:
Menu planning, grocery shopping, and meal preparation for specific dietary needs.
Medical Oversight:
Administering medication, tracking health metrics, and coordinating with local healthcare providers.
Housekeeping:
Light cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe, hazard-free home environment. Skills Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living, or long-term care environments Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, and first aid, Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient safety oversight Competence in medication administration, vital signs measurement, and basic nursing tasks Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, residents, and families Join our team as a Direct Support Professional where your dedication fuels positive change!
